Girls track finishes 8th in state!
The girls track team qualified for the team state meet for the first time in school history. The meet was hosted by Linden. The girls had several fantastic performances and ended up 8th overall. The team was highlighted by Alia Frederick winning the 300 hurdles and 2nd in the 100 hurdles. Taylor Ganger placed 2nd in the 3200 and 7th in the 1600. Maddie Nelson finished 4th in the high jump. McKenzie Haubenstricker and Lauren Obrien placed 8th and 9th in the pole vault respectively. Overall 10 different athletes had personal best performances. It was a great team effort by the Eagles.
Girls track at Davison Invitational
The girls track team ran at the Davsion Invitational Saturday. Taylor Ganger had a big day for the Eagles. She placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run, 3rd in the 800 meter run and ended the night placing 2nd in the 3200 meter run. Her time of 12:06 was good enough for 6th best in Linden history. Jessical Daul also landed on the top ten board. Her toss of 35'10" puts her 4th best all-time. Alia Frederick won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Taylor Acox was 2nd in the 300 hurdles and 5th in the 100 hurdles. The relay team of Alexis Pisoni, Breanna Turnipseed, Taylor Acox and Jordannah Martinsen finished 3rd in the 4 x 100. Maddie Smith finished 3rd in the discus. The girls will take on Fenton Tuesday and travel to Williamston Saturday for regionals.
Girls track team finishes 4th at Goodrich invitational
The girls track team put together a strong showing at the Goodrich invitational. Despite being shorthanded they still managed to finish 4th. Maddie Piet led the way winning the 200 meter in 26.75 seconds which is the 4th fastest time in Linden history. She also placed 3rd in the 100 hurdles. She teamed up with Breanna Turnipseed, Taylor Acox and Alia Frederick to win the 4 x 200 relay. She was also part of the 3rd place 4 x 100 with Alexis Pisoni, Lauren O'Brien and Turnipseed. Taylor Acox also finished 3rd in the 300 hurdles with a season best 50.9 seconds. Jessica Daul placed 3rd in the shot put and 5th in the discus with throws of 33' and 83'9" respectively. Maddie Smith finished 3rd in the discus with a huge personal best throw of 85'1". The girls will compete against Flushing and Kearsley on Wednesday.
Record setting day for girls track team
The girls track team finished 3rd at the Chelsea relays Saturday. The shuttle hurdle team of Maddie Piet, Taylor Acox, Lauren O'brien and Alia Frederick started the day winning the race with a new school record of 1:10.5. A second school record was set in the Kruse relay. The team of Maddie Piet, Taylor Acox, Taylor Ganger and Alia Frederick dominated the race with a time of 4:06 good enough to also break the meet record. The high jump trio of Lauren O'brien, Maddie Nelson and McKenzie Haubenstricker took 2nd. Three other relay teams finished 3rd. O'brien and Haubenstricker in the pole vault, Alexis Pisoni, Maddie Piet, Bella Blank, and Jordan Martinsen in the sprint medley and in the 4 x 100 relay. Overall the team had a great day. The team will host Holly and Swartz Creek on Wednesday.
Girls Perform Well at Track States
The 4 members of the girls Track and Field team all put forth great performances at a cool, rainy state finals meet this past Saturday. Madison Piet led the team with an incredible 9th place performance in the 300 Hurdles in a personal best and freshman record time of 47.08, missing the All-State podium by 1 place! Alia Frederick was right behind her with an amazing 10th place finish in the same race. Frederick also ran to 21st place in the 100 hurdles. Savannah Ferrara ran her 3200 race with great conviction and heart. She came into the finish with a new personal best of 11:45.67, which also broke the senior class record and placed her 19th in the state! Taylor Ganger ran a gritty race in the 1600 placing 18th in the state and finishing out a great season. The entire girls team had an amazing season with a 3rd place finish in the league and a 6th place finish at regionals. Great job girls!
Girls Track & Field finishes Season strong with 3rd at Metro Championships
Coming into the championship meet ranked 3rd in the league the girls proved their meddle and narrowly missed placing 2nd by 2 points to Ortonville-Brandon. The night was filled with thrilling performances and every athlete who competed gave their all and many came out with PR performances and several with All-Metro League Honors. Leading the charge were all metro finishers Savannah Ferrara (3rd - 3200), Breyanna Turnipseed (3rd - 100H, 3rd - 300H), Alia Frederick (2nd - 100H, 1st - 300H), Madison Piet (3rd - 100H, 2nd - 300H), Alexis Brandt (3rd- Pole Vault). Other great performance were turned in my Jessica Daul who narrowly missed the All-Metro distinction in both throwing events (4th- Shot Put and Discus), and Bella Blank (4th - 400).
Two relay teams did extremely well in the meet. The 4x200 relay of Alia Frederick, Bella Blank, Sam Greene and Jordanah Martinsen took 2nd team honors. The 4x400 relay capped of the night with an amazing performance, breaking a 37 year old school record with a blistering time of 4:12.52 and taking the metro title in the event. The team consisted of Bella Blank, Madison Piet, Breyanna Turnipseed and Alia Frederick.
Girls Track & Field Qualifies 4 for State Meet
It was a good day for Linden Girls Track and Field last Saturday at the regional track meet. 4 girls qualified to run at the Division 2 state meet May 30th and many others went home with medals. The qualifiers were: Taylor Ganger in the 1600(4th) , Savannah Ferrara in the 3200 (2nd), Alia Frederick in the 100 (4th) and 300 Hurdles (3rd), and Maddie Piet in the 300 Hurdles (4th). Additional medalists (top 8) were: Bella Blank (7th - 400), Breyanna Turnipseed (7th 300 Hurdles), 1600 relay team of Bella Blank, Maddie Piet, Breyanna Turnipseed, and Alia Frederick (4th), Lauren Kotalik (7th - discus), Brook Ovington (7th- High Jump), and Alexis Brandt (6th - Pole Vault). The girls will compete in the Metro League Championships at home this Wednesday.
Girls Track & Field finishes regular season with 2 wins
The Girls Track and Field finished out their regular season league schedule well with wins against Holly (74-62) and Swartz Creek (92-44). Individual winners included: Breyanna Turnipseed, Madison Piet, Courtney Davis, and Alexis Brandt. Relays did well on the day winning 3 of 4. The sprint relay teams consisted of Alexis Brandt, Amelia Simberg, Samantha Greene, and Jordanah Martinsen. The 4x400 also took the top spot with a team of Taylor Ganger, Madison Piet, Breyanna Turnipseed, and Bella Blank. The team will be competing in their regional meet right here in Linden on Saturday. Girls Track & Field 3rd at Williamston Invite
The Girls Track and Field squad stepped up to strong competition at Williamston and placed 3rd out of 12 teams. The team got incredible performances from the hurdling trio of Alia Frederick (2nd 100 Hurdles, 2nd 300 Hurdles, 6th Long Jump), Madison Piet (3rd 100 Hurdles, 3rd 300 Hurdles, 7th High Jump) and Breyanna Turnipseed (5th 100 Hurdles, 5th 300 Hurdles). The distance squad was strong led by Taylor Ganger (3rd 800 run, 3rd 1600 run), Savannah Ferrara (3rd 3200 run, 7th 1600 run) and Courtney Davis (6th 3200 run, 8th 1600 run). The sprint relays both turned in 5th place finishes and included Alexis Brandt, Amelia Simberg, Sam Greene and Jordanah Martinsen. The team got help from the field events with Lauren Kotalik heaving the discus for 4th place, Alexis Brandt Pole Vaulting for 3rd place and Brook Ovington High Jumping for 7th. The 4x400 relay of Ganger, Piet, Turnipseed and Frederick capped the day with a blistering 3rd place performance. Great Job girls. The team will wrap up its metro league season this Tuesday at Holly before competing in their regional competition right here on their home track! Come out and support the team.
During the meet 2 records were broken. Alia Frederick broke the school 300 Hurdles record (46.98) and Madison Piet broke the freshman 300 hurdles record (48.34). Congratulations!
The Girls track and field team split in their dual meet against Kearsley and Flushing, Wednesday afternoon. The girls beat Kearsley with a score of 104-32. Top performances included a 2nd place finish in both the 100 and 200m by Jordanah Martinsen, 1st place finish in the 800m by Taylor Ganger, a full sweep in the 3200m run by Savannah Ferrara, Courtney Davis, and Meghan Hitt, Breyanna Turnipseed 2nd in the 100m Hurdles and 1st in the 300m Hurdles, Maddie Piet 1st in the 100m Hurdles, 2nd in the 300m Hurdles, and 2nd in the high jump. All relay teams aided in the victory with a first place finish in each event. The girls lost to Flushing 52-85. Top performances again included Martinsen 2nd in the 100 and 200m, and Piet's 1st in the 100m Hurdles and 2nd in the 300m Hurdles, along with Turnipseed's 1st in the 200 Hurdles and 2nd in the 100m Hurdles.
Girls Track & Field Defeats Fenton
In a very close meet against neighboring Fenton, the girls turned in a strong performance to get the win. Leading the way was the winning 3200 relay team of Taylor Ganger, Maya Gossett, Courtney Davis and Savannah Ferrara. Individual event winners were: Alia Frederick (100 Hurdles) , Taylor Ganger(1600 and 800), Breyanna Turnipseed (300 Hurdles), Savannah Ferrarah (3200), Jessica Daul (Discus), Alexis Brandt (pole vault), and Madison Piet (high jump). Next the girls are running at the Stockbridge Invitational on Friday.
Girls run great at MSU - Frederick sets sophmore hurdles record
Running against strong competition brought out the best in many of the Girls track and field athletes on Friday at the MSU Classic invitational. Those bringing home hardware for a top 6 finish were Madison Piet in the 100 Hurdles (4th, 17.43) and Alia Frederick in the 100 Hurdles (5th, 17.53) and 300 Hurdles (3rd, 48.08). Those achieving personal record efforts were Amelia Simberg (200), Taylor Ganger (800), Courtney Davis (1600, 3200), Madison Piet (100H, 300H), and Allie Lale (Discus). Great job girls!
Not only did Alia Frederick get a medal for her 300 hurdle efforts, but also ran her way to the Linden girls sophomore record in the event. Congratulations Alia!
The Girls Track and Field team came out of their first league competition with a win against Clio and a tough loss against a talented Brandon squad. Some great performances were turned in by several team members including: Taylor Ganger 1st in the 800 and 2nd in the 1600, Bella Blank 1st in the 400, Jessica Daul 1st in shotput and 2nd in discus, Breyanna Turnipseed 2nd in the 300 hurdles, Courtney Davis 3rd in the 3200, and Brooke Ovington 3rd in the long jump and high jump.
Girls Track & Field kicks off season at MSU
The girls track and field team started their season at the MSU True Team invite on Thursday. Notable performances were turned in by several athletes. Jessica Daul had a great start to her season placing 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 32'3" only missing 2nd by 1 inch! Courtney Davis ran strong in the 3200 meter run placing 8th. Bella Blank also had a great race in the 400 meter dash placing 8th. Great job girls!
Girls finish 3rd at league meet
The girls track team ran well and placed 3rd in the Metro League this year. The team had 2 individual league champions, Sydney Elmer in the 800 meter and Savannah Ferrara in the 3200 meter. The 4 x 100 relay team of Jordannah Martinsen, Bella Blank, Miranda Greene and Samantha Greene were also champions. Finishing with runner up performances and earning second team all league were Rebecca McDonald in the 100 meter hurdles, Breyanna Turnipseed in the 300 meter hurdles and Sydney Elmer in the 1600 meter and the 4 x 400 relay team of Breyanna Turnipseed, Bella Blank, Sydney Elmer and Jordin Gunderson. The 4 x 200 relay team, Jordannah Martinsen, Jordin Gunderson, Miranda Greeene and Samantha Greene, finished with 3rd team all-league honors
Girls track qualifies 2 to the state meet
The girls track team will send 2 runners to the state meet this year. Sydney Elmer placed second in the 1600 meters and will be headed to her 4th state meet. Rebecca McDonald finished third in the 100 meter hurdles and will be competing in her 2nd state meet. Along with their terrific performaces Breyanna Turnipseed just missed qualifying for the state meet but did break her own freshman record in the 300 meter hurdles. Her time of 49.84 seconds also places her 5th on Linden's all-time list. Congratulations on your great day.

Breyanna Turnipseed set a new freshman record in the 300 hurdles on Friday. Her time of 50.6 seconds is also good enough for 6th all-time in Linden history. Congratulations Breyanna!
Girls Track runner up at Stockbridge Invitational
The girls track took second place at Stockbridge invitational on Friday. Rebecca McDonald led the way winning the 100 meter hurdles, placing second in the long jump and ran a leg in the 400 meter relay with Sam Greene, Miranda Greene and Jordin Gunderson that placed third. Jessica Daul finished second in the shot put. Sydney Elmer took second in the 1600 and 5th in the 800 meter. Sam Greene was 2nd in the 200 meter, Miranda Greene finished 5th. Those two combined with Jordin Gunderson and Jordannah Martinsen placed third in the 4 x 200 relay. Savannah Ferrara finished third in the 3200 meter. Her time of 12:14 moves her to number 6 all time in Linden History. Breyanna Turnipseed finished 4th in the 300 hurdles moving to number 6 all time in Linden history. The Eagles finish the dual meet portion of the season on Wednesday against Kearsley and Swartz Creek.
Girls track team sweeps Lapeer East and Clio
The girls track team dominated their meet tonight beating Lapeer East 98 - 39 and Clio 114.5 - 24.5. The Eagles won 14 of the 17 events against Lapeer and won all 17 events against Clio. Savannah Ferrra won the 3200 meter in 12:37.2 good enough for 10th all-time in Linden history. Taylor Smith had the fastest time in the 100 meter, Sam Greene won the 200 meter, Maya Gosset the 800 meter, Sydney Elmer the 1600 meter, Courtney Davis the 3200 meter. Rebecca McDonald won the 100 meter hurdles and Breyanna Turnipseed won the 300 meter hurdles. Jessica Daul won the shot put and discus, Brook Ovington was victorious in the high jump. The Eagles also won all 4 relays. Overall it was a fantastic day. The team will travel to Stockbridge on Friday for an invitational.
Girls track beats Lapeer West falls to Fenton
The girls track team beat Lapeer West 122.5 -14.5 but lost to league favorite Fenton 89 - 48. The team had some very good performances led by Sydney Elmer who won both the 1600 meter and 800 meter. Rebecca McDonald won the 100 meter hurdles. 10 different athletes had lifetime bests in the meet. Breyanna Turnipseed in both hurdle races, Delany Dubois in the pole vault, Morgan White in the high jump. The other 7 athletes with personal bests were throwers. Jessica Daul, Lauren Kotalik, Reegan Gadany, and Brittany Ronald in the shot put. The discus bests were achieved by Daul, Kotalik, Ronald and Ashleigh Cameron. The team is making great improvements. The next meet is Friday at the Michigan State University Invitational.
Girls track beats Holly for first time in 11 years
The girls track team opened the season accomplishing something that has eluded them for over a decade, a victory over Holly. There were many great performances on the day against Holly. Sam Greene won the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. She also teamed with Taylor Smith, Bella Blank and Jordanah Martinsen in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays. Rebecca McDonald won the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles . Breyanna Turnipseed placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles and 3rd in the 300 hurdles. Jordana Martinsen finished 2nd in the 300 hurdles completing the sweep in that event. Jordin Gunderson won the 400 meter dash and Sydney Elmer won the 800 meter. Girls track at MSU indoor invitational
The girls track team ran the MSU indoor invitational on Wednesday. Rebecca Mcdonald had a great day winning both the 60 meter hurdles and the long jump. Brook Ovington placed second in the high jump tying her lifetime best jumping 5'. The team had several other athletes place on the top ten. Sydney Elmer was 5th in the 1600 and 6th in the 800 meter. Courtney Davis finished 6th in the 3200. Morgan White and Breyanna Tunipseed tied for 7th in the high jump.The 4 x 400 relay team of Samantha Greene, Miranda Greene, Jordin Gunderson and Taylor Smith placed 5th. Overall it was a very good start to the season.
Girls finish 4th at Stockbridge Invite
The girls track team finished an exhausting week with their third meet in five days. Though tired they placed 4th at the Stockbridge Invitational. Niki Sargent led the way winning the shot put throwing 41'3". Many other athletes finished in the top three in their events including Rebecca McDonald in the long jump, Sydney Elmer in the 1600 meter, Aleighsha Engisch in the 800 meter and Miranda Greene in the 200 meter. The team will get a few days off with their next meet at Lapeer East on Wednesday.
Girls track split meets
The girls track team beat Lapeer West and lost to Fenton on Wednesday. Winning two events for the eagles were Rebecca McDonald (100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles) and Sydney Elmer (800 meter run and 1600 meter run). Tiffani Cameron was victorious for the first time in her high school career by winning the discus, Niki Sargent won the shot put and Courtney Davis won the 3200 meter run. We compete next on Friday at the Stockbridge invitational.
Girls track drops two
The girls track lost meets against league favorites Holly and Brandon Monday night. The Eagles had some fantastic individual performances. Niki Sargent broke her own school record in the shot put with a toss of 43' 2 1/2", the second best throw in the state this year. Rebecca McDonald moved to #6 all time in the 100 meter hurdles and #9 in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 16.65 and 50.9. Sydney Elmer moved to #9 in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29 and she also won the 1600 meter. Alexis Brandt moved to #3 in the pole vault with a height of 8'. Girl's track compete at MSU
The girl's track team finally had good weather for a track and several athletes had great days. Niki Sargent won the shot put with a toss of 41'5 1/2". Rebecca McDonald placed 6th in the long jump with a jump of 16'5". Her jump moved her into #4 all-time for Linden jumpers. Sydney Elmer moved into #5 all-time for the 1600 with a time of 5:29. Courtney Davis is now the 9th fastest 3200 meter runner with a time of 12:35. Also producing their best times for the year were Aleighsha Engisch (800 meters), Alexis Brandt (pole vault), Rebecca McDonald (100 meter hurdles). The Eagles will compete Monday against Holly and Brandon.
Girls track team wins two
The girls track team competed in their first league meet of the year. They beat Kearsley 99-29 and Swartz Creek 95-41. Of the 17 events Linden was vicorious in 15 of them against both teams. Taylor Ovington won the high jump with a lifetime best jump of 4'10". Other winners in the meet were Samantha Greene (100 meters, 400 meters), Miranda Greene (200 meters), Aleighsha Engisch (800 meters), Sydney Elmer (1600 meters), Kristyn Resseguie (100 meter hurdles), Rebecca Mcdonald (300 meter hurdles, long jump), Niki Sargent (shot put), and Kayla Briscoe (discus). It was an outstanding day for the entire team. Our next meet is at home Wednesday against Holly and Brandon.
Track teams finish 2nd at co-ed relays
The boys and girls track teams braved the elements and competed in the Byron Jack and Jill relays on Friday. Even with gusting winds and blowing snow the teams had some outstanding results earning second place. Each relay was comprised of 2 boys and 2 girls. The teams won 6 different events and finished second in 5 others. The highlight of the meet was Niki Sargent's school record in the shot put. Her effort helped the team of Kayla Briscoe, Kyle Korman and Andy Roberts win the shot put relay. Aleighsha Engisch, John Gossett, Sydney Elmer and Roger Phillips easily won the distance medley, Elmer, Phillips along with Courtney Davis and Graham Elliot also were victorious in the 4 x 1mile relay. Sam Greene, Austin Beurkel, Miranda Greene and Ted Parcher won the 4 x 200 relay. The Greene sisters, Parcher and Conner O'connell also won the 4 x 100 relay. The long jump relay was won by Rebecca McDonald, Aaron Kersten, Brooke Ovington and Noah Sargent. Overall is was a great day. The team will have 3 meets next week including our only home meet on Wednesday.
Niki Sargent Breaks Outdoor School Record
Falling snow and gusting wind did not deter Niki Sargent from breaking the school record in the shot put. Her throw of 41'7" broke the 29 year old record by more than 2 feet. Niki now holds both the indoor and outdoor records. Congratulations Niki!
Track Season Starts 3/11/13!!
Attention ALL students: Anyone interested in having a fun time should consider joining the track team this spring. Track is a great opportunity to socialize and meet new people, work hard, get in shape for summer, and improve your fitness level for any other sports you already participate in. Practice begins Monday, March 11 in the High School gym at 2:45 and will go until approximately 4:00 until the weather changes and we can be outside consistently. In order to participate Monday, March 11 you need a tryout card from the athletic office. Don't wait until Monday, March 11 to go get a tryout card or you will be waiting in a long line and late for practice.

The girls track team put together some very good performances to earn their best team finish at an invitational this year. Sydney Elmer took home the Eagles lone first place finish in the 3200 meter. She also finished 6th in the 1600 meter. Lexi Downes and Kayla Briscoe placed 2nd and 3rd in the shot put. Lexi also took 3rd in the discus. The 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams placed 3rd. Samantha Greene was 3rd in the 200 meter while Miranda Greene finished 5th. Brooke Ovington earned 4th in the high jump and Angelina was 4th in the long jump. Kristyn Resseguie was 5th in the 100 meter hurdles and 6th in the 300 meter hurdles. The 4 x 800 relay team placed 5th and Courtney Davis rounded out the scoring with a 6th place finish in the 3200 meter. This was a fantastic day. We have the regional meet next Friday at Flint Northwestern.
9th/10th Meet at Fenton
The girls track team sent a small group to the 9th and 10th grade meet at Fenton on Saturday. The 4 x 100 relay team of Alexis Brandt, Alexandia Crain, Jordan Rutty and Jordan Gunderson finished 2nd. The same team placed 3rd in the 4 x 200 relay. Jordan Gunderson also placed 3rd in the 200 meter and Alexis Brandt placed 5th. Alexis also finished 5th place in the pole vault. Madison Owsley took 4th place in the high jump. Amara Jones running a personal best in the 800 meter finished 5th.
Girls track beats Clio and Lapeer East
The girls track team capped off the dual meet season with victories againt Clio 108-29 and Lapeer East 91-47. Linden had the overall winner in ten of the events. Samantha Greene won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, She also anchored the winning 4 x 100 relay team with Brooke Enciso, Jordan Gunderson and Kristyn Resseguie, as well as the 4 x 400 team with Miranda Greene, Sydney Elmer and Angelina Garcia. Miranda Greene won the 400 meter, Sydney Elmer won the 1600 meter and Aleighsha Engisch won the 3200 meter. The 4 x 200 team of Enciso, Gunderson, Garcia and Resseguie were also vitorious. Tiffani Cameron was the shot put champion and Angelina Garcia won the Long Jump. The team will enter the league meet in third place with a 6 - 2 record.
Girls track finshes third at Owosse Invite
Despite missing two of their top runners the Eagles still managed to take third place at the Owosso Invitational. Samantha Greene was the star of the day winning the 200 meter dash and anchoring the winning 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays. Her 200 meter time set a new freshman class record and puts her 4th on Linden's all-time list. Miranda Greene also had a great day, running in the same relays and placing second in the 200 meter dash. Her 200 meter time moved her into 6th place on Linden's all-time list. Courtney Davis won the 3200 meter in a personal best time. Two other relay teams took home victories, the JV 4 x 800 team of Kelsey Dietrich, Courtney Davis, Kailee Corcoran and Mariah Lengyel and the JV 4 x 200 team of Alexis Brandt, Taylor Ovington, Madison Owsley and Jordon Gunderson. Three others had lifetime bests, Aleighsha Engish in the 800 meter, Brooke Ovington in the high jump and Tiffani Cameron in the Discus. It was another great day for the Eagles.
Samantha Greene breaks freshman class 200 meter record
Samantha Greene ran the 200 meter in 26.8 seconds at the Owosso Invitational breaking the freshman class record. The previous record holder was Katie Dolata who set the mark in 2000. Samantha's time also moves her to 4th place on Linden's all-time list. Congratulations Samantha!
Girls track team beats Fenton and Lapeer West
The girls track team traveled to Fenton beating Lapeer West 113 - 23 and beating Fenton 71 - 66. Sydney Elmer led the way winning the 800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs. Samantha Greene won the 100 meter and 200 meter runs, while Kristyn Resseguie took the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. Tiffani Cameron won the shot put. The 4 x 100 relay of Brooke Enciso, Angelina Garcia, Jordan Gunderson and Resseguie were also victorious. The Fenton meet was very close the entire night and every point counted. Jordan Gunderson placing third in the 200 meter running out of the second heat, and Courtney Davis finishing second in the 3200 meter were the points that finally guaranteed victory. This was another meet where we had several different runners finish with new personal bests. We will compete next on Friday at the Owosso relays.
Girls track drop two
The girls track team ran against league favorites Brandon and Holly on Wednedday. Despite some fantasic performaces the team came up short losing to Brandon 33-103 and to Holly 43.5-92.5. Sydney Elmer led the way winning the 800 meter with a personal best time of 2:32 and the 1600 meter run. Samantha Greene had a great day with personal bests in the 100 meter, 200 meter and 400 meter runs. Lexi Downes threw her lifetime best in the shot put with a toss of 32'11". In all there were 12 different runners with personal best performaces. The meet was a lot closer than the score showed and we are very encouraged by all the improvement we are seeing. Our next league meet will be against Fenton and Lapeer West on Wednesday.
Girls compete at MSU
The girls track team competed at the Spartan Classic on Friday. This is one of the most competetive meets in the state for the season and the girls had some great performances. Lexi Downes threw a personal best in the shot put. Her throw of 33' 7" was good enough for 5th place and also puts her 5th all-time in Linden history. Samantha Greene finished 6th in the 200 meter dash. Her time also places her 5th in Linden history. Miranda Greene also ran the 200 meter das and her time places her 10th on the all-time list. Sydney Elmer ran a personal best in the 1600 and her time moves her to 6th all-time for Linden. The 4 x 200 relay team of Angelina Garcia, Miranda Greene, Samantha Greene and Kristyn Resseguie finished in 6th place at the meet. Mariah Lengyel and Courtney Davis both ran personal bests in the 3200.
Girls track teams earns victories over Kearsley an Swartz Creek
The track team cruised to victories over Kearsley 98-35 and Swartz Creek 108-20. The team had event winners in the 200 meter (Samantha Greene), 400 meter (Miranda Greene), 800 meter (Aleighsha Engisch), 1600 and 3200 meter (Sydney Elmer), 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles (Kristyn Resseguie), Long jump (Angelina Garcia), high jump (Brooke Ovington), 4 x 100 relay (Brooke Enciso, S. Greene,Garcia,Resseguie), 4 x 200 (Enciso, M.Greene,Garcia,Resseguie), 4 x 400 (Greene, Greene,Engisch, Kailee Corcoran) and 4 x 800 (Elmer, Corcoran, Engisch, Courtney Davis). It was a fantastic day for the girls with 6 different girls getting lifetime bests. The girls run again next Wednesday.
Girls run well at Corunna Relays
The girls track had some very good performances at the Corunna Relays on Friday. One school record was broken in the hurdle sprint medley. The team of Kristyn Resseguie, Sydney Elmer, Samantha Greene and Miranda Greene broke the previous mark by 7 seconds. The 4 x 200 meter team of Brooke Enciso, Angelina Garcia, Samantha Greene and Kristyn Resseguie ran the fastest time for a Linden team in 3 years taking second place. Two different freshman and sophmore teams had great races as well. The 4 x 100 team, Alexis Brandt, Miranda Greene, Jordan Gunderson and Samantha Greene finished second. The teams lone victory came in the 4 x 400 relay, Samantha Greene, Sydney Elmer, Alexis Brandt and Miranda Greene won easily beating the next team by four seconds. Two different athletes had lifetime bests for the day, Sydney Elmer took 3 seconds off her best 1600 meter time and Adriana Keech added 2 feet to her best shot put. The girls run next at Linden on Wednesday.
Girls run well at MSU. Sydney Elmer breaks school record
The girls track team competed at the MSU indoor track meet on Wednesday with some very good performances. Sydney Elmer broke the indoor school record for 800 meter run by 2 seconds running 2:36. Kayla Briscoe had a personal best in the shot put improving her best by 3 feet. Many of the girls finished in the top ten in their events.Samantha Greene and Brook Enciso finished 8th and 10th in the 60 meter dash. Sydney Elmer took 9th in the 1600 meter run. Kristyn Resseguie also took 9th in the 60 meter hurdles. Miranda Greene competing n the long jump for the first time placed 10th. The 4 x 400 relay team of Samantha Greene, Miranda Greene, Sydney Elmer and Kristyn Resseguie placed 6th. The girls compete next at the Corunnna Relays on Aprin 13th.
